Nova Scotia-skonnerten Blandford med skipper Charles Publicover afsejlede 20. juli 1916 fra Pascagoula (vistnok i delstaten Mississippi) med trælast bestemt for Port-of-Spain i Trinidad, men indkom på grund af dårligt vejr 17. august til Jacksonville (østlige Florida?) og fortsatte 1. september.
Alt gik godt indtil 19. september 180 sømil fra Sombrero i de små Antiller, da en orkan ødelagde alle master og borttog bovsprydet, alle både og dækslasten.
Med nødmast fortsattes i 8 dage og fra den britiske jomfruø Norman Island guidede skipper Mathias fra Sankt Jan-sluppen Intrepid skibet til Sankt Thomas, hvor det ankom 29. september om morgenen.
Skibet solgtes til et lokalt tømmerfirma.
